Ezekiel Elliott's Father: ‘People Will Know The Set Up'

The saga continues for Ezekiel Elliott.

The Cowboys running back has stated that he will fight the six-game suspension handed down by the NFL on Friday for allegedly violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

The appeal will likely be filed by Elliott’s representatives on Tuesday.

Elliott’s father, Stacy Elliott, hit Twitter Monday with a screenshot of a story from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that includes claims made by the women that his son is accused of assaulting. He tweeted out the claims allegedly made by his son's ex-girlfriend and accuser, Tiffany Thompson, which state comments such as “your career is over” and “You are a black male athlete. I’m a white girl. They are not going to believe you.”

Along with the screenshot, Stacy Elliott also tweeted out, “My son’s legal team is ready to fight! Let’s deal!!! You will know the set up and PLOT!”

The accusations revolve around an alleged incident in Columbus, Ohio in July 2016 in which Ezekiel Elliott was never arrested or charged. The NFL, however, was allowed to conduct its own investigation. The league’s personal conduct policy states “It is a privilege to be part of the National Football League. Everyone who is part of the league must refrain from “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in” the NFL.”

An investigation by the league found that Thompson lied about one incident on the night of Elliott’s 21st birthday party. However, one of the league’s independent consultants said they found her other claims of physical force to be true.

Ezekiel Elliott’s representatives criticized the suspension, saying “the NFL’s findings are replete with factual inaccuracies and erroneous conclusions and it 'cherry picks' so called evidence to support its conclusion while ignoring other critical evidence."

The NFL did announce over the weekend they are closing the investigation into Ezekiel Elliott’s involvement in an altercation at a Dallas bar shortly before training camp opened. A league’s spokesman said the investigation would only resume if new information arises.
