Sam Dyson is, in many folks' opinion, the best reliever on the Rangers' staff.

You can include yours truly in that group. But make no mistake, that doesn't mean he automatically should be the designated ninth-inning arm for the Rangers.

On Wednesday, however, with Shawn Tolleson unavailable, Dyson got the call for a save opportunity and was able to notch his first save of the season to secure a series win for the Rangers over the best team in the American League.

Dyson hit the first batter he faced to put the tying run on base — about the worst way you can possibly start a save chance with a one-run lead. He then got a strike-out-throw-out to erase the damage and a lineout to shortstop to end the game.

Dyson should be pitching in the most high leverage situations against the opponents' best hitters, whether that comes in the ninth or seventh, but on Wednesday he got his first save chance and came through.
