Dunbar: Cowboys Running Backs All Feel Like They Can Start

The departure of DeMarco Murray left the Cowboys with some questions at the running back position

Outside of Valley Ranch, there’s a good deal of doubt over whether the Dallas Cowboys’ stable of running backs can get the job done in the absence of a star, bell-cow kind of back like DeMarco Murray. Inside Valley Ranch, there’s no such question, at least not from the running backs themselves.

We’re all confident,” said Lance Dunbar, per the Dallas Morning News. “We all feel like we can be starters in this league and play in this league.”

Along with Dunbar, who had more of an impact in the passing game than in the running game last year, the Cowboys will look to Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden in the running game. They also have last year’s preseason rushing leader Ryan Williams and former Baylor standout Lache Seastrunk on the roster.

It’s a group that’s not exactly swimming in acclaim, but Dunbar and the rest know that they’re not going to change any minds by talking.

“It’s kind of disrespectful, some of the things that they say,” Dunbar said. “But we just have to go out there and when it’s time to play, we have to play. We just talk with our play, not with what we say.”
