Donovan McNabb Wonders How Garrett Still Has a Job

Jason Garrett has gone 48-48 in three full seasons as the Cowboys head coach

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb rarely has anything good to say about his old rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

McNabb slammed Tony Romo’s contract extension (and, by extension, Romo) a year ago, and he’s still incredulous about the direction the Cowboys are going. This week, he ripped head coach Jason Garrett.

"I'm still figuring out how he still has a job at this particular point the way we have continued to see this team just continue to crumble," McNabb said, per FOX Sports. "He was behind Troy Aikman and he was behind Dan Marino, too [this is only half true--Garrett never backed up Marino in Miami]. You're behind Hall of Famers and you see how they carry the two-minute offense. He's run the two-minute offense himself as a starting quarterback. The way that they control their offense in certain games, how can you lead games in the middle of the third quarter and you end up losing the game?"

McNabb’s career with the Eagles ended with a playoff loss to the Cowboys, but Garrett wasn’t the head coach back then, of course. That was Wade Phillips, who McNabb points out--as Phillips himself pointed out on Twitter earlier this year--had a better record through 56 games than does Garrett.

"You can't fire Wade Phillips and hire Jason Garrett and Jason Garrett's doing worse than Wade Phillips was doing,” he said. “That's just not going to get it done. What team is going to follow that?"
