Deal Done, Dez Says Cowboys Are ‘Super Bowl Ready'

Dez Bryant signed a five-year, $70 million deal at the deadline on Wednesday

Among the earliest encouraging reports to emerge on deadline day Wednesday had Dez Bryant on his way to Valley Ranch with less than an hour until the cut-off to iron out the details on a new, long-term deal. It was the first really positive sign that after a somewhat contentious offseason, everything was going to be alright on the 88 front--and shortly after those reports, the deal was done.

“I smiled the whole way over here--I couldn’t even say nothing but just smile and laugh, because I couldn’t believe it,” Bryant told the team’s official website. “All I could just think about is that it’s a dream--a dream come true. I think the only thing that’s missing is a Super Bowl.

Michael Irvin opined this week that, without Bryant, the Cowboys wouldn’t finish better than 8-8. With Bryant, their top playmaker, who knows? Their chances are certainly better with him than without him. As for making a return to the Super Bowl the goal going into 2015, Bryant doesn’t believe the Cowboys are far off.

“Now that we’ve got the deal done, I can only imagine what’s fixing to go down this season,” Bryant said. “We’re Super Bowl ready.”
