Desmond Still Waiting on Fly Ball in Left

Ian Desmond's only two games of outfield experience in the big leagues came in his first two seasons and they were in right field.

With less than a month to go until Opening Day, Desmond is still waiting on his first game action in left field as he's yet to get a ball hit toward him in 15 innings of work.

"I'm going to get a fly ball before this is over," Desmond told the Dallas Morning News. "I'm going to find one. I'll go to a Little League field.''

Desmond told the Morning News he would even be willing to play in extra games on the minor-league back fields in Surprise to get more work in at his new position. His manager's thoughts? Well, he's not too concerned with Desmond picking things up over the next month.

"I feel confident that he can catch a fly ball," Banister said. "He's logging in the experience.''
