Delino DeShields has been in a bit of a slump, and it's hard to tell if it's just your usual rookie struggles and wall being hit or if it's the result of a sore knee he's been playing with for a couple of weeks now.

Either way, the Rangers' rookie center fielder and leadoff man, who's batting .255 with a .339 on-base percentage and 23 stolen bases in 108 games this year, isn't in the best of ways right now. DeShields' importance to the Rangers is obvious to the tune of the club's 64-44 record in games he's played in, but in his last 15 games, he's batting just .194 with a .239 on-base percentage and 15 strikeouts.

DeShields got a much-needed day off on Sunday against Felix Hernandez in what ended up being a 9-2 Rangers loss and will get another on Monday with the team's final scheduled off-day of the year before he and the Rangers hit the ground running on Tuesday with 13 games in 13 day to close the season.

The Rangers currently have a 1 1/2-game lead in the division over Houston, the team that let DeShields go in the Rule IV draft in December, and they'll need a rejuvenated, recharged DeShields to hold on to it over the final two weeks of the season.
