I’ve taken some pokes at DeMarco Murray during his career.
Until 2014 he was injury prone. He’s sometimes inexplicably surly with the media. He misses obvious holes or cutback lanes. And, of course, he was the “Spray Tan” other man during an alleged fling with the wife of a former Oklahoma teammate.
But no doubting Murray is a great back headed for a big payday. And a guy who this week did a good deed.

The Livermores – husband John, wife Christie and three sons – watched in horror in December as their Frisco house burned to the ground. Among the valuables they lost that day, several items of Murray memorabilia.
But this week the NFL’s leading rusher surprised the family with three autographed jerseys at a promotional event in Plano. Murray also sat with the family during dinner and presented them with limited edition Cowboys watches from Hublot.
“Maybe it will help them try to get their minds away from the fire and let them enjoy themselves for a little bit,” Murray told reporters at the event.
Said John Livermore, “It’s so special. It’s more than we could ever ask for. The kids are absolutely thrilled. He had such a fantastic season and is such an outstanding individual. A lot of things he stands for, the kind of values he has, we try to teach to our kids so he’s a great role model.”
From hanging out with teammates at SMU basketball games, to saying all the right things about cherishing winning over money, to helping a local family in need, if Murray is leaving Dallas via free agency he’s going out with a bang.
