DeMarco Murray Demoted in Philly?

DeMarco Murray’s rough first season in Philly just keeps getting rougher.

The Eagles upset the New England Patriots 35-28 on Sunday afternoon, but Murray was apparently demoted prior to the game. The former Dallas Cowboy was on the field for just 14 snaps, and posted 24 yards on 8 carries, while the team fed Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner.

Unsurprisingly, for those who remember Murray in Dallas, he said he was fine with the carry distribution, because the team won.

“You always want an opportunity to play and obviously run the ball, but we got the big victory so that’s all that matters," Murray said, per CSN Philly. "Things we were doing were working so it went well for us."

Eagles head coach Chip Kelly only said after the game that the team wanted to get the “smaller, quicker” guys like Proles and Barner involved against the Patriots’ linebacking corps., and added that he thought all three played well.

“As the game expressed itself we were just trying to go with a hot hand, and we used all three,” Kelly said. “DeMarco had a big run in the inside zone in the red zone there that drive—that 13-play drive—we had a big run on that. We just thought we were going to use all three today and we needed all three.

“It's as big a linebacker crew as you're going to face, so sometimes those smaller, quicker guys can cause some problems in the matchup.”
