Daryl Johnston: Cowboys Catching Redskins at the “Wrong Time”

The Redskins are looking to win consecutive games for the first time since 2014

Going into Monday Night in Landover, the Washington Redskins are atop the NFC East standings, as healthy as they’ve been all year and looking to win consecutive games for the first time since the middle of last season.

That spells a case of bad timing for the banged-up Dallas Cowboys, according to former Cowboy Daryl Johnston, who’s been in the middle of a few Cowboys-Redskins tilts over the years and joined 103.3-FM ESPN Radio’s Cowlishaw and Mosley recently to discuss the current state of the rivalry.

Suffice to say, he doesn't think it looks good for the Romo-less Cowboys.

“Three of their road losses came against undefeated teams at the time they were playing them,” Johnston said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Their home schedule has been much different. When they can run the football effectively, play-action comes into play. That's one of the areas that Kirk Cousins excels at. They've gotten DeSean Jackson back. They've gotten Jordan Reed back and healthy. There's quite a few weapons. And the best thing that Kirk has done is Kirk has distributed the ball. You look across the formation with Pierre Garcon, Jordan Reed, DeSean Jackson, Matt Jones or Alfred Morris.

“They've got a pretty good group of skill players out there. The Cowboys are catching the Redskins at absolutely the wrong time in the schedule.”
