The Texas Rangers avoided all-out disaster when it was revealed the MRI of pitcher Yu Darvish's neck was "unremarkable," and the team announced he will make his next scheduled start on Sunday at Washington, when he'll be in the batting order, as well.
Darvish, who has a 4-2 record and a 2.35 ERA, missed his scheduled Opening Day start and opened the season on the disabled list with neck stiffness, and the problem arose again on Tuesday morning when he woke up in his hotel room in Minneapolis.
Darvish was scratched from his start, yielding to Scott Baker, with neck stiffness once again and it was feared things could've been catastrophic for an already cursed team this year. But hey, the Rangers finally got some good news on an MRI reading, and all is well in Yu Land.
The Rangers currently lead baseball with 10 shutouts despite the fact they've had a rotation held together with spit and pine tar. Darvish's absence would've been a final nail in the coffin, so it's great for both sides that he seems to be OK.
