Darvish Outing Goes to Waste

It's one of the reasons the Texas Rangers are in the putrid mess they're in right now.

Granted, it's not nearly as big of a reason as the injuries, and in actuality, it's all tied together, but the Rangers blew another great outing from ace Yu Darvish on Sunday and failed to win once again in a game that Darvish started.

For the second time in three outings on Sunday, Darvish had a quality start but the Rangers lost the game, and that's counting the washed out 4 1/2-inning game in The Bronx, in which Darvish was his dominant self.

Sunday's was maybe the worst such game of the season as Darvish gave up four hits in seven innings, allowing one run while striking out eight Indians batters. He was left off the hook in taking a no-decision, but obviously would've liked to have picked up that 11th win of the season. The Rangers are now just 13-8 when Darvish takes the hill — not the number you want to see when you're talking about a legitimate ace and a bona fide top-5 pitcher in the league.

Darvish is set to make his next start in Houston, where good things have traditionally happened for him in the past, so he'll hope his team backs him a little better this weekend against the Astros.
