Darvish Out of Brace and Feeling Good

Yu Darvish isn't going to pitch this year for the Texas Rangers, and that's a big ol' bummer.

The Rangers ace, who's arguably a top-3 to top-5 starter in the American League, threw 12 pitches in his spring training debut before complaining of triceps tightness and then being diagnosed with a partial tear of his elbow ligament.

Now, Darvish is out of his brace and has moved on from the mundane range-of-motion exercises required in rehab to more concentrated work on his shoulder and elbow — a good example of how baby steps can feel so good.

"I have no frustrations at all," Darvish told ESPN Dallas. "I can't throw right now and it is what it is. I'm just cheering on my teammates right now."

Darvish also said he isn't feeling the pain many Tommy John patients report at this point in the recovery, so that has to be a positive sign. Maybe Darvish will be ready to start on Opening Day next year. We can only hope.
