Yu Darvish has been on quite the run lately since coming off the disabled list following the all-star break. The stay on the DL was nothing but a precautionary stint in which he missed just one start coupled in with the four days off mandated by the league for the break.
Darvish has been on a tear in his past three starts, capped by last Thursday's gem against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he registered his fourth 14-strikeout effort of the season and ran his season strikeout total to 186, meaning another 14-K outing would put him at 200 on Tuesday night in Anaheim.
In his previous two starts against the Angels this season, Darvish allowed three runs (all on April 7, his second start of the season) with 17 strikeouts in 11 innings of work.

Outings like Thursday's are without a doubt fun to witness, but it would be nice for Darvish to work on his efficiency a bit as that game was his first to get through seven innings since June 13. Strikeouts are nice, one- and two-pitch outs mixed in every now and then are better.
Another stellar outing from Darvish on Tuesday will go a long way toward helping the Rangers claim another series and win their eighth game in their past nine with the lone loss coming on Saturday in Oakland. A Rangers win, coupled with an A's loss to a good Reds team, would put the Rangers just one game back of Oakland.
