Darren Woodson Nominated for Salute to Service Award

Woodson was just inducted to the Ring of Honor two weeks ago

Just two weeks after his name went up in the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, Darren Woodson has been named the team’s nominee for the USAA Salute to Service Award, which goes to a player, coach or front office member, past or present, who exemplifies a commitment to the military community.

A three-time Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys on the field, Woodson co-founded Honor and Hire, which honors military members and prepares them for life after active service.

Some other notable nominees include Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, Giants coach Tom Coughlin, Saints head coach Sean Payton, Texans linebacker Brian Cushing, and Cardinals’ receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

The finalists for the Salute to Service Award will be announced in January, and the winner announced in February at the 5th annual NFL Honors show in San Francisco.
