Cris Carter a Big Fan of Dez Bryant

Carter was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend

ESPN analyst and recently inducted Hall of Famer Cris Carter was recently charged with the task of rating the 10 best wide receivers in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys’ Dez Bryant finished sixth, but Carter added that Bryant might have the most potential of anyone ranked--more than the Lions’ Calvin Johnson or the Cardinals’ Larry Fitzgerald, even.

“You’re always going to have a Dez Bryant somewhere in the league, somebody who has to go through some off-the-field problems in order to reach his potential,” Carter said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I know exactly what that feels like.

“What I love about Dez is that everything you’re starting to hear about him is encouraging. He’s making good decisions. It’s clear that football is important to him. He’s getting into better shape. He played at a Pro Bowl level last season, and he should be even better this season. Of all the players on this list, he may have the highest ceiling.”

A year ago, Bryant posted 92 catches for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career-highs, and this offseason has been an encouragingly quiet one for the fourth year Oklahoma State product.
