Cowboys Working Out Receivers in Wake of Dez Bryant Injury

Longtime Giant Hakeem Nicks is among a group of veteran receivers working out at Valley Ranch on Tuesday

With Dez Bryant out for up to the next eight weeks with a broken bone in his foot, the Dallas Cowboys are hosting a group of veteran receivers at Valley Ranch on Tuesday. Head coach Jason Garrett said on Monday that the team would probably sign a receiver  to add depth this week.

Among the group in town today are Hakeem Nicks, Austin Pettis, Nick Toon and Clyde Gates.

Nicks, of course, is the biggest name here. He was the first round pick of the Giants in 2009 and won Super Bowl XLVI with the team. He spent last year with the Colts before going to camp with the Titans this year, where he was among final cuts.

Pettis, a Boise State product, posted 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns in the last four seasons with the Rams.

Toon is a former 4th round pick of the Saints out of Wisconsin, who appeared in a combined 16 games in 2013 and 2014, and pulled down 21 catches for 283 yards and a touchdown.

Gates, a former member of the Dolphins and Jets, returns to the team after being cut on September 5.
