Cowboys VP: We're Not Letting Dez, Tyron Smith Go

Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith are each entering the final year of their contracts

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had any extension talks with either left tackle Tyron Smith or wide receiver Dez Bryant, but executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team’s not about to let them go anywhere.

“We plan on keeping Dez and Tyron around here, barring something unforeseen, for quite a long time,” Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They are not getting out of here.”

As of now Bryant and Smith, each of whom earned their first career Pro Bowl nod in 2013, are set to become free agents following the 2014 season. Jones and the rest of the Cowboys front office don’t intend on letting it get that far, and say the team’s cap issues won’t affect contract talks for their top two in-house priorities.
