Cowboys Upgrade Scouting Department With More Promotions From Within

To the victors go the spoils. To the productive come the promotions.

As a result/reward for years of shrewd draft and savvy player acquisitions, Will McClay has been given a new job title. He’s now the team’s senior director of college and pro scouting.

He’ll still essentially perform the same job: run the Cowboys’ personnel department.

McClay was the team’s director of football research from 2011-13 before being upgraded last year to assistant director of player personnel. Chris Hall, who has been with the organization for 26 years, has also been promoted to assistant director of college scouting.

The only change in personnel comes with the replacing of Northeast scout Bill Dekraker with Justin Stucky. Dekraker, who is joining the Jets’ staff, went out with a bang with his recommendation of UConn cornerback Byron Jones.

A native Texan who was born in Duncanville and graduated from UT-Arlington, Richie Whitt has been a mainstay in the Metroplex media since 1986. He’s held prominent roles on all media platforms including newspaper (Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Observer), radio (105.3 The Fan) and TV (co-host on TXA 21 and numerous guest appearances, including NBC 5). He lives in McKinney with his wife, Sybil, and two very spoiled dogs.
