Caught a sneak preview of Ted 2 the other night. One of the crazy scenes involves Tom Brady, joking about being a cheater.
As I watched I immediately had this thought:
What the what with Greg Hardy?
Obviously the deflated footballs trick has the Patriots being suspended and going under oath to appeal his punishment. But his case is in the line behind Hardy. Right?
All the sudden it’s been a month since the Cowboys’ defensive lineman appealed his suspension, which all the sudden was handed down in April. While with the Panthers, Hardy was charged with domestic violence and NFL commish Roger Goodell suspended him 10 games under the league’s new, tougher Personal Conduct Policy. The NFLPA, meanwhile, argues that the punishment is too harsh is the wake of the Ray Rice ordeal. Since the incident occurred in 2014, it claims the case should be governed under the NFL’s old policy, which would mandate only a two-game suspension.
Huge difference.
With the Cowboys dispersed for a summer break before training camp one month from now, the timing is right for the Hardy ruling. Expect arbiter Harold Henderson to announce his decision one of these late Friday afternoons, when fans are distracted by their weekend plans and while the media has little chance of getting immediate reaction from Hardy.
