Cowboys-Pats Game Drew Highest TV Rating In Two Years

We’ve seen the Dallas Cowboys play some great football in our time, as well as some really bad, frustrating football. But one thing that never changes is this: folks enjoy watching the Cowboys play football.

Consider: Dallas’s match-up with the New England Patriots in Fox’s game of the week last Sunday drew the highest rating for a regular season NFL game since 2009, when Brett Favre returned to Green Bay as a member of the rival Minnesota Vikings.

With a 17.1 rating and a 31 share, it was Fox’s third highest rated regular season game in the past decade. Which of course is good business, if you happen to have a stake in Fox programming.

Ratings take into account all homes with a television tuned to a given program, while the share represents the percentage of homes with television sets in use. We don’t understand it all too well, but we do know that a 17.1/31 mark is pretty, pretty good.
