Cowboys Met with Baylor DE Shawn Oakman

Oakman is a 6-foot-7, 270-pound defensive end

The Dallas Cowboys got a chance to meet with Baylor defensive end and mountain of a man Shawn Oakman last week, which makes some sense as Oakman played for the South side in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. The North was team coached by Jason Garrett and his Cowboys staff.

"We just discussed pass rush, mostly," Oakman said of the meeting, per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. "We discussed how to play during the game and during practice. They gave me pointers on what I need to do better.”

At 6-foot-7 and around 270 pounds, Oakman came to Baylor after he was dismissed from the Penn State squad for violations of team rules in 2013, at which point he headed to Waco. In his two seasons with the Bears, Oakman had 15.5 sacks and 34 tackles for loss.

He had a pair of sacks in the Senior Bowl, after meeting and working with Cowboys’ defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli last week.

"He gave me a few pointers about my pass rush from the first day [of practice]," Oakman said. "I think I showed him a little bit [in Saturday's game]."
