As the Cowboys continue their quest to fill out their coaching staff, former Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt reportedly met with the team this week concerning a potential role here in Dallas in 2013.
Nutt, who has no NFL experience, coached the Razorbacks from 1998-2007. He moved on to Ole Miss from 2008-2011 before spending last season out of football.
As of yet, it’s completely unclear what sort of role he would have with the Cowboys. As ESPN Dallas’s Todd Archer points out, the only current vacancy on the offensive side of the ball is at running backs coach--the recently departed Skip Peete’s old spot--though this could soon change. Tight ends coach and passing game coordinator John Garrett applied this week for the head coaching gig at the University of Delaware.
Seeing as how owner and Jerry Jones is a proud Arkansas alum, the connection between Nutt and the Cowboys is more than a little apparent. At the very least, we’d imagine the two had plenty to talk about at their meeting.
