Cowboys Lose OT Chaz Green for Season

Offensive lineman Chaz Green will miss the remainder of the season after having back surgery.

Chaz Green's 2016 season is over.

The second-year reserve offensive tackle had surgery Friday on his back, and will spend the off-season rehabbing.

Green has dealt with several injuries since the Cowboys selected him in the third round of the 2015 draft. He missed all of his rookie season with a hip problem. Earlier in 2016, a nagging foot issue slowed him down and more recently, a herniated disk in his back forced him off the field.

The offensive lineman from the University of Florida tried practicing through the pain on Wednesday, but sat out on Thursday. A MRI revealed that surgery was necessary.

The Cowboys like Green's potential, but he needs to be more available. He started two games this season when Tyron Smith was out with a back injury. In two seasons, Green has played in just four games.
