Cowboys Keeping All Options on the Table at Quarterback Position

Tony Romo will be 36 by the time the Cowboys open training camp this summer

Going into the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys know they want to address the quarterback position, after watching a series of three backups go a combined 1-11 in Tony Romo’s absence in 2015.

What they’re less certain about is how they’ll address the position, be it through a premium draft pick—the Cowboys own the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming draft—a lower pick, or through free agency.

As of now, they’re keeping all options on the table, where that position is concerned.

All the options are just those, options, whether it be drafting a high pick, whether drafting a lower pick for more of a developmental situation or whether we look at a prominent quarterback as a backup or as a potential in-the-game guy,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “They’re all there.”

The team remains committed to Tony Romo for the foreseeable future, but many read his injury plagued 2015 as writing on the wall. Romo will be 36 by the time training camp opens, and coming off not one, but two collarbone fractures.
