Now returning kicks for your Dallas Cowboys … Lucky Whitehead?
Get used to the dude with the long braids, the catchy name, the cool Twitter handle (@ninjafast22) and the blurring speed, because he’s turning heads at Cowboys’ OTAs the past couple weeks at Valley Ranch.
If Dwayne Harris and Cole Beasley had a baby, it’d be Lucky Whitehead.
That is to say, the undrafted rookie from Florida Atlantic has Harris’ kick-return skills and Beasley’s slot-receiver quickness.
As the Cowboys look to replace Harris (now a Giant), they’re giving a serious look at Whitehead. Last year at FAU he averaged 24.6 yards per kickoff return and used his elusiveness and speed (4.41 in the 40) on long touchdowns on a run (80) and a punt return (73).
In a crowded backfield, Whitehead could even see a screen pass or two.
With his unique skill set and Dallas’ glaring need, I’ll be surprised if Lucky doesn’t make the final roster.
