There’s a chance the Dallas Cowboys could be compensated for the loss of unrestricted free agent defensive tackle Jason Hatcher last week, in the form of a draft pick in 2015, this according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.
The Cowboys last received a compensatory pick for the loss of a free agent in 2011, when--just like Hatcher did last week--defensive end Stephen Bowen left Dallas for big money with the Washington Redskins. That year, they received a fourth round pick in the 2012 draft, which they spent on Eastern Washington safety Matt Johnson.
Suffice it to say, that pick hasn’t panned out to this point. Johnson’s experience after two seasons in the league amounts to two appearances in preseason games, and he spent much of 2012 and all of last year on the injured reserve.
