Cowboys: Austin's Hamstring Injury Not Serious

Miles Austin tweaked his left hamstring in the third quarter of Sunday's win

The Dallas Cowboys will proceed with caution where receiver Miles Austin is concerned, but they don’t believe the hamstring tweak that took Austin out of the win over the Rams on Sunday is all that serious.

We just want to see what his progress is day to day,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “We don't think it's a severe hamstring injury, but we'll take his injury day to day and see how he progresses as the week goes on.”

The tweak, as Garrett called it, happened on a deep route in the third quarter of the 31-7 victory. Since the game was already far out of reach for St. Louis, it was an easy decision to shut Austin down for the rest of the day and proceed from there--especially since Austin has a long history of hamstring issues. Just two years ago, he missed six games due to a string of those issues.

“We just want to be smart with him and really with any of our players,” Garrett said. “There is a little bit of a history there. We want to see what we've done in the past and how we've done things well and maybe not so well and make sure we handle it the right way this time.”
