Cora, Lovullo Confirm They're Out

The Texas Rangers' list of eight candidates to become their next full-time manager is apparently now down to six.

Multiple reports have come out saying ESPN analyst Alex Cora and Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo have confirmed they are no longer in the running for the job, presumably being told as much by the Rangers, not making the decision themselves and withdrawing from the search.

The new list now includes six people, three of which have current ties to the organization (interim manager and former bench coach Tim Bogar, pitching coach Mike Maddux and Triple-A Round Rock manager and former Rangers third baseman Steve Buechele) and three outsiders (White Sox coach Joe McEwing, Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash and Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister).

Of those outsiders, you'd have to think Banister would be the favorite because of his position as a bench coach working for former Rangers' bench coach Clint Hurdle. In fact, we'll go ahead and him as the frontrunner outside of odds-on favorite Tim Bogar.
