Construction on what will be the Dallas Cowboys’ new headquarters and practice facility in Frisco will begin on Thursday, executive vice president Stephen Jones said.
“I think they’re going to start doing some work (Thursday),” Stephen Jones told the team’s official website. “It’s exciting. We’re fired up about our place. Hopefully, it’ll be state of the art and best in class. We’re excited to get with it.”
The Cowboys announced the move from Valley Ranch, which has served as the team’s home for 30 years, last August. Since even before then, though, team representatives have traveled the country looking at different pro and college facilities that could inform the new facility--much like they did prior to the construction of AT&T Stadium.
The team is scheduled to make the move from Valley Ranch to the new, $115 million complex in Frisco prior to the 2016 season.
“It’ll be different. Just layouts,” Jones said. “We’re always looking for space (currently at Valley Ranch). So obviously, there will be a different feel for it. There’s only so many things you do with locker rooms, access to the field, weight rooms and training rooms.”
