The Texas Rangers say ace pitcher Cole Hamels has been signed and will start Saturday in Arlington against the Giants.
Texas Rangers Vice President of Communications John Blake tweeted the news just before 11 a.m. Friday.
Blake confirmed the team traded Matt Harrison, Jorge Alfaro, Nick Williams, Alec Asher, Jerad Eickhoff and Jake Thompson to the Phillies.
Hamels is due $22.5 million per season through 2018 with a club option for 2019, according to the Associated Press.
Hamels, the 2008 World Series MVP, is now the first pitcher in major league history traded during a season immediately after throwing a no-hitter — he no-hit the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Wrigley Field.
The Rangers other ace, Yu Darvish, is out this season after having elbow surgery in March.
