The Dallas Cowboys have been impressed by receiver Cole Beasley over the first week of training camp, but not at all surprised. At this point, theyβre used to Beasley doing impressive things.
Beasley came to Dallas as an underdog, an undrafted free agent out of SMU in 2012 β he was an underdog the team liked, but an underdog nonetheless β but he canβt be described that way anymore.
Not after the Cowboys gave him a four-year, $13.6 million deal this offseason.
What he did to earn that deal was establish himself as a dynamo of a slot receiver who seems to always be in the right place at the right time on third downs. Over the past two seasons, he has 76 catches for 788 yards and six touchdowns.
βHeβs had our trust for a long time,β Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said, per The Dallas Morning News. βHeβs caught a lot of big passes for us, converted a lot of big third downs for us over the last couple of years. Heβs someone that we really, really believe in and I think thatβs very justified with his performance.
