Coach Garrett Inspired by Bruce Springsteen

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is a big Bruce Springsteen fan.

In fact, he shared Tuesday morning that he has seen Springsteen in concert between 25 and 30 times.

So, on the 40th anniversary of Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” the Cowboys coach didn’t mind spending a few minutes after his press conference chatting about his favorite musician.

“I was fortunate to have older brothers and sisters and they introduced me to (Springsteen) a long time ago,” Garrett said.  “They used to chase him up and down the Jersey Shore in these little seashore bars.  He’s just been an inspirational guy.  People talk about music and books being kind of alive, and I’ve come to understand that because his songs mean different things to me over the last forty years.”

Having spent the majority of Cowboys training camp emphasizing putting excellence in front of his team, Garrett became passionate about what Springsteen’s work has meant to him.

“He’s certainly somebody who has been a part of my life for a long time,” Garrett said.  “I’m inspired by him.  I love the guy.”
