Choice in Midst of Awful Slump

Michael Choice entered Wednesday night's game in the starting lineup and in the midst of an awful, extended slump at the plate.

On Wednesday, things only got worse for the rookie outfielder.

Choice, who was acquired this winter from Oakland for Craig Gentry, was seen then as a potential replacement in right field for Alex Rios with the talent to be an everyday outfielder. He might still be that, but he's not showing it this season.

Choice went 0-for-4 at the plate on Wednesday, extending his slump to a 5-for-62 clip (.080 batting average) and he's now hitting .176 on the season.

Choice would obviously be best off right now playing every day for Triple-A Round Rock, but the Rangers don't have that luxury at the moment with all the injury trouble they've had, and so Choice is being thrown to the lions at the big-league level and things aren't going well.

At this point, you really have to hope he isn't ruined forever with his struggles this season because it wouldn't be the first time that's happened to a promising young player.
