When Super Bowl XLV arrives in Arlington, there won't be any ladies in short skirts ruffling their pom poms for the players.
That's because neither the Packers nor the Steelers have an official cheerleading squad.
We feel sorry for the cameramen on the sidelines; they'll have to resort to fans swinging Terrible Towels and wearing cheeseheads as the Super Bowl show returns from commercial breaks.
The Packers haven't had cheerleaders since 1988. Sometimes cheerleaders from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay or St. Norbert College take to the sidelines for the guys in green, but only at home games during the season.
Why no cheerleaders, you ask? Apparently, the fans didn't care one way or the other.
Pittsburgh once had cheerleaders known as the Steelerettes, made up of ladies from Robert Morris Junior College. They lined the sidelines from 1961 to 1970 until Robert Morris and the Rooney family decided enough was enough.
Instead, the team's mascot, Steely McBeam, may roam the field.

The Packers and Steelers are two of six teams in the NFL without cheerleaders. The Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears also don't have cheerleaders.
