Carr Mum on Contract, Says He Loves Being a Cowboy

Amid talk that the Dallas Cowboys will ask cornerback Brandon Carr to take a pay cut, Carr said Sunday night that he was happy in Dallas, and not much else.

"I love playing football,” Carr said Sunday night at the Taste of the NFL tailgate party at AT&T Stadium, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. "I love being a Dallas Cowboy as well. That’s been stated many times. But, you know, I know how this business is. I know how the game goes. At the end of the day if I’m blessed to play this game, that’s all I’m looking forward to."

Carr, who wouldn’t discuss his contract Sunday night, was signed to a five-year, $50 million deal prior to the 2012 season and posted six interceptions in his first two years in Dallas. But he struggled last season to the point that these pay cut talks emerged, and failed to record an interception for the first time in his career.

"I just feel like last year comes down to a few plays, one play, two plays a game, however the case may be," Carr said. "Sometimes the ball bounces your way. Sometimes it doesn’t. But at the end of the day I fought through till the end and at the end of the season kind of turned it around and was in position to help my teammates get into the playoffs and win some ballgames."
