Bryant’s Award a Long Time Coming

Dez Bryant has had a pretty decorated career since joining the Dallas Cowboys out of Oklahoma State.

This season, he's leading the NFL in touchdown receptions with one game remaining despite a cold period earlier in the season in which the Cowboys were relying almost exclusively on the running game.

You would've probably thought Bryant would've won NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors before Wednesday, but you'd be wrong as it was his first time winning the award.

Want to hear an even bigger surprise? It was the first time a Cowboys wide receiver had won the award in December since Michael Irvin won the award in 1991 — before the Cowboys' dynasty had even begun.

It's pretty remarkable, actually, that Irvin never won the award during the Cowboys' dominant stretch, and really just as amazing that Terrell Owens didn't pull it off in his few years in a Cowboys uniform.
