Brinson Reflects on Workouts With Miggy

It's hard to imagine a Rangers prospect having a quicker ascension than the one Nomar Mazara has seen in the last year or so, but if anyone could challenge him in that department, it'd be fellow outfield prospect Lewis Brinson.

Brinson, who's looking to be the Rangers' center fielder of the future or a massive trade chip for another team, made a quick rise through the Rangers' system last season, moving from High-A to Double-A to Triple-A all in one season — a rare trajectory reserved for only the most rare prospects.

The best thing about Brinson is his willingness to learn and continue to improve, and he's recently been learning from one of the best.

Brinson joined the folks on 105.3 The Fan and talked about his workouts with Tigers slugger and future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera, who's one of the game's all-time great hitters and winner of multiple AL MVP awards.

"Having a chance to work out with him with us both playing pro ball, it was surreal," Brinson told The Fan. "It was awesome. That guy works hard. I hit with him my first offseason working out. He doesn't even need warm-up swings. He jumps in the cage and hits home runs to center field. It's ridiculous. It's a joke. That guy is truly not human... He actually taught me a lot about working out, and being in the big leagues and handling yourself."
