Brandon Carr Misses First Day of Camp with Personal Issue

The Cowboys held their first day of practice on Thursday in Oxnard

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr missed the first day of training camp practice on Thursday as he attended to what head coach Jason Garrett called a “family health situation,” according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas.

Carr didn’t travel with the team to Oxnard, CA on Tuesday, and Jason Garrett isn’t sure when he’ll return.

We’re just going to communicate with him as he’s dealing with the situation,” Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “We’re going to give him some time to take care of it.”

Carr is entering the third year of a five-year, $50 million deal, and to this point, he hasn’t really lived up to expectations. He recorded 71 tackles and three interceptions in 2013, but had some decidedly rough performances, the worst coming in Week 7 against the Lions when Calvin Johnson (working mostly against Carr) posted 329 yards and a touchdown on 17 catches.

All that said, Carr is confident that he’ll bounce back in a major way in 2014.
