While Tim Bogar seems to be the odds-on favorite to be the Texas Rangers' next manager after leading the Rangers to a 14-8 finish under his direction as interim manager this season, he was in discussions with other teams, as well.

Now, the biggest threat to the Rangers in terms of stealing Bogar away is no longer there, as the Arizona Diamondbacks hired Oakland A's bench coach Chip Hale to be their next manager on Monday after interviewing Bogar and others.

The move obviously increases Bogar's chances of being the next manager of the Rangers after Ron Washington's unexpected resignation on Sept. 5, but it also increases the likelihood the Rangers could hire someone else and keep Bogar on staff in his original position of bench coach.

Bogar is still under contract for 2015 as the bench coach, and could be kept on if someone else is given the manager's job and agrees to keep him. It could also increase the chances of a power coaching staff of Bogar as the manager if he lands the gig, Mike Maddux (pitching coach) and Steve Buechele (bench coach), all of which were also Rangers' managerial candidates.

The possibilities are endless, but no matter how it ends up, it's looking to have a positive ending for the Rangers.
