Beltre's Bat Finally Coming Alive

Welcome to 2015, Adrian Beltre.

You know you’re having a rough start to a season when you’re optimistic about having three homers, eight RBI and a .236 average in mid-May. But when you consider the All-Star third baseman had only two RBI in the season’s opening month, you can understand the upward trend.

And especially in light of Sunday’s performance in Tampa, where Beltre helped Texas cap off a surprising 5-2 road trip with a homer a tie-breaking single in a 2-1 victory over the Rays.

“The main reason we're not doing better is because of me. I take full responsibility,” Beltre said in the post-game clubhouse. “Hitting in the middle of the lineup, I know my job, I know what I need to be doing. It hasn't happened, but there's no doubt it has to be better moving forward.”

With their early-season struggles, the Rangers are already digging out of a hole. That process, however, is a little less daunting if Beltre’s shovel is familiarly productive.
