Beltre Trying to Stay Positive During Break

People can complain about the Texas Rangers in 2014, and they have every reason to be unhappy about their season, no matter who's fault it is.

The Rangers are playing historically terrible, matching their expansion 1972 season, thanks in large part to a never-before-seen injury bug that began before spring training even kicked off. And through all of that, Adrian Beltre is still being awesome, just like he has been for his entire Rangers stint dating back to 2011.

The veteran 35-year-old third baseman, a four-time gold glover, is leading the league with a .337 batting average and has 13 homers with 51 RBIs despite having missed two weeks back in May with a quad strain. He's trying to carry a young, inexperienced team made up mostly of guys who shouldn't be in the bigs at this point, through a historically bad season.

“You have to see what you can do to help the ballclub,” Beltre told reporters Monday in Minnesota for the All-Star Game. “It doesn’t matter what happened yesterday. You could be losing 20 in a row. The next game is the one you can win. You can’t sit down and feel sorry for yourself, crawl back and believe the season’s over. "

“I always have that in me, that I’m trying to do whatever I can to win ballgames. I’m not going to help my team sit there and feel sorry for themselves.”
