Beltre Takes Home Silver Slugger

Adrian Beltre didn't cash in on a Gold Glove earlier this week, but on Thursday night he was awarded with his fourth Silver Slugger award after another great year at third base for the Texas Rangers in 2014. The award is voted upon by MLB managers and coaches.

Beltre had one of his worst career years from a power standpoint, hitting just 19 home runs and driving in 77 runs, but he led all American League third basemen in batting average (.324) and slugging percentage (.492). He finished ahead of guys like Josh Donaldson (Oakland), Evan Longoria (Tampa Bay) and Kyle Seager (Seattle) in those categories, but trailed them in homers and RBIs.

Even still, Beltre was the most productive hitter on a bad Rangers team ravaged by injuries, including one stint from Beltre himself on the 15-day disabled list.
