Before the Injury, Cowboys Liked What They Saw From Gregory

Randy Gregory suffered what looks like a high ankle sprain in the third quarter of Sunday night's win over the Giants

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones liked what he saw out of rookie defensive end Randy Gregory on Sunday night before he went down with what looks like a high ankle sprain near the end of the third quarter, which makes the injury hurt all the more.

I absolutely like what we had seen tonight,” Jones said after the 27-26 victory, per ESPN Dallas. “He was getting some pressure and playing against a hell of a quarterback who knows how to get rid of the ball."

Gregory didn’t start the game on Sunday night, but he put pressure on Eli Manning a few times, and even got a hit on the two-time Super Bowl winner.

“I did some things well,” Gregory said. “I felt like I wasn't out there a lot, but in the limited time I was out there I had some good rushes. Overall, I think I did a decent job for the first game. I’ll get a lot more feedback from the coaches and look at some film and try to get better."

Unfortunately, with the injury, Gregory won’t get another shot for several weeks.
