Arlington to Vote on Tighter Smoking Limits at the Ballpark

Vote to come October 16

The Arlington City Council will vote later this month to expand the city's smoking ban to include Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Smoking is currently allowed in designated areas, but a proposal was recently pitched to prohibit smoking in all public parks, pool halls, nightclubs, bowling alleys and the ballpark.

According to a report in the Star-Telegram, smoking would be prohibited on the balconies of the private Cuervo Club and smoking areas of the upper concourse could be moved farther away from the seating bowl.

The chairman of the Rangers committee of season ticket holders said they support the ban.

If the ban is approved, there may still be a handful of locations where smoking will be permitted.  The vote is set for October 16.
