UPDATE: The NFL lockout is officially back in business.
League spokesman Greg Aiello told The Associated Press late Friday that teams "have been told that the prior lockout rules are reinstated effective immediately."
Well, that was quick.
It was reported this week that players would be welcomed back into team headquarters, be allowed to use team facilities and meet with coaches and staff members as of this morning -- and, sure enough, a number of Cowboys showed up at Valley Ranch showed up this morning.
This afternoon, they will be booted once more.
ESPN reports, via ProFootballTalk.com, that the U.S. Appeals Court for the Eighth Circuit has granted a temporary stay of the injunction.
As early as Monday, the players will bring their case to the Eighth Circuit and argue their case against a stay. At that point, depending on the court's ruling, the players could either be let back in, or the lockout upheld. In any case, this ruling will be a temporary one as the appeals court makes its decision on Judge Susan Richard Nelson’s original ruling.
Of course, this means that the lockout will remain at least through the weekend.
But hey, it was nice while it lasted.
