Anonymous Eagles Player Questions DeMarco Murray's Effort

Murray is in the first year of a five-year deal with the Eagles

DeMarco Murray took some criticism from a former teammate early last offseason when the now-departed Joseph Randle suggested he left some “meat on the bone” in 2014, and that was in reference to the single greatest statistical rushing season in the 50-plus-year history of the Dallas Cowboys.

So maybe the fact that some criticism would crop up this year in Philadelphia, when things aren’t exactly going all that swimmingly, shouldn’t come as much surprise. What does come as a bit of a surprise is that someone on the Eagles roster went so far as to take the anonymous route to question the former Cowboy’s effort in the press.

Specifically, the player was rankled by a 3rd-and-1 play against the Dolphins two weeks ago, on which Murray took a carry outside and attempted to slide past the first down marker and out of bounds, not unlike a quarterback.

(You can see video of the play in question here.)

And man was he rankled.

"Well, when you see DeMarco sliding before getting hit, you tell me. Was that giving full effort?" the unnamed Eagle told Jeff McClane of "You see that [stuff], and it makes you wonder."
