Elvis Andrus has been on a phenomenal run defensively. Dating back to last season, he entered Tuesday night's game on a 54-game errorless streak, a club record for an everyday shortstop, and a pretty ridiculous number for a position that's prone to errors.
But Tuesday night, that streak came to an end, and it wasn't one of those meaningless, forgettable errors either. Andrus kicked a ball that started a three-run seventh inning for the Blue Jays that got Toronto the 7-6 lead after the Rangers had previously led the game 5-0.
Of course, the Rangers came back in the top of the ninth to tie the game after three straight hits from Ian Kinsler, Andrus and Michael Young. Then the Blue Jays came back in the bottom of the ninth to hit a walk-off homer off Mike Adams.
So yeah, Andrus' error, it could be argued, was a big culprit to the Rangers losing the game on Tuesday, in what had to be their most heartbreaking loss of the season.
Andrus is off to a great start this year, at the plate and in the field, but Tuesday's game could stick in the craw of the Rangers, especially if they don't bounce back and win today.
