Alexi Ogando Signs With the Red Sox

As we all expected, Alexi Ogandoโ€™s career with the Rangers is kaput. The right-hander and former All-Star signed a free-agent contract over the weekend with the Red Sox.

Once a primo starter and also a snappy set-up man for closer Neftali Feliz in Arlington, the 31-year-old Ogando now goes to Boston on a one-year contract worth $1.5 million. Though going only 2-3 with a 6.84 ERA out of the Rangersโ€™ bullpen last year, Ogando was considered one of the top arms in Spring Training.

With the Red Sox heโ€™ll be reunited with former Rangers teammate Mike Napoli off the 2011 squad that almost won the World Series.
