Alberto Has a Good Day at the Office

What did you do at work on Tuesday?

Get a huge promotion? A big raise? No? OK, then your day was probably nowhere as good as Rangers utility infielder Hanser Alberto's.

Alberto, who made his mark as the Rangers' utility infielder a year ago and even drew a start in the postseason after Adrian Beltre was injured, was told on Tuesday he'd made the Rangers' Opening Day roster after a pretty heated spring battle with Pedro Ciriaco.

Prior to that meeting with Jeff Banister, Alberto won the spring-long free-throw shooting competition among Rangers players and coaches, outlasting a Final Four that included Elvis Andrus, Sam Dyson and bench coach Steve Buechele.

After both of those accomplishments, Alberto played in the Cactus League game against the White Sox and had a productive day against one of the game's best pitchers, Chris Sale. Alberto went 2-for-3, including a home run.
